Nomination Form

For the first time the committee is pleased to announce that the Schools Award will be given in recognition of our long serving committee member Lions member Harry Tillyer.

All schools are invited to nominate projects for this award, which is presented each year to the best entry during Service Clubs Week. The winner will be advised in time to make arrangements for a representative group of students to receive the award. The judging panel may award a runner-up award from time to time at its discretion.

Projects may be ongoing or recently completed. Entries will be judged on the scope and success of the project, as well as student involvement. Projects should aim to address one or more of the following criteria:

  • to contribute to the well-being of the school’s local community; or
  • to improve the environment; or
  • to benefit a disadvantaged group within the community; or
  • to increase student awareness of the value of community service.

Participants may be a class, an entire school, a group of interested students (not restricted to a particular year level), or a group of students in co-operation with members of a local service club.

Nominations for the Harry Tillyer  Schools Community Service Award should be submitted using the application form provided. Students should be encouraged to produce an overview of the project, describing the objectives, methods and outcomes of their project. The application should be no more than 500 words.  Pictorial submissions or other supporting material are also welcome to accompany nominations for this category.

The school community service event or program nominated does NOT need to be in association with a Service Club.
